For many local residents The Sun Inn at Lemsford is looked upon with great affection. The characteristic 17th Century building set in the heart of picturesque Lemsford achieves the ‘country pub’ ideal whilst providing easy accessibility from surrounding towns.

Ian Hartley & Laura Kearney are the  owners of The Sun & keen to continue the long-standing relationships the pub has whilst implementing improvements to make The Sun experience a pleasant & memorable one.

Ian , better known as Spanky, has over 30 years experience in the entertainments industry. It is almost certain that if you have frequented pubs in Hertfordshire you will have encountered him, whether through bands, cabaret or for the last 20 years, karaoke. One of his most well known venues was Friday night at The Bell in Codicote where he was resident for 17 years & he is continuing to entertain at The Sun every Saturday night.

Laura grew up in Guessens Road, WGC before moving to Welwyn Village. She also worked at Brocket Hall whilst in the 6th Form at Stanborough School & Jack Kaye Ltd in WGC for 13 years. Therefore, her knowledge & appreciation of The Sun reverts back to childhood. As a partnership they have a vision for The Sun to take it back to it’s glory days, making it the pub we all know & love. Their passion for customer service, comfort & ambience is second to none & the changes made are  subtle yet very apparent. To improve the ‘country’ feel, curtains & carpet have  returned, alongside full usage of the beautiful open fire. There are 7 cask conditioned ales (Cask Marque 2009 awarded)  & a great selection of fine wines by the glass or bottle to choose from.

This all lends itself not only to a great drinking experience, but a dining one too. Every dish is prepared on site using fresh, quality ingredients. The traditional English menu incorporates all of the old favourites as well as new creations & daily specials. For the lunchtime clientele car-parking facilities are vast & small meals are readily available. Pre-booking & ordering are welcomed, ensuring limited time is adhered to.  Most meals are also available to take away.

For the smokers, canopies with heating & lighting have been installed, alongside new furniture.

Durimg the warm weather, The Sun is fully air conditioned throughout.

The exterior of the pub is also seasonally planted with an abundance of beautiful flowers.

Above all Ian & Laura are firm believers that a pub exists for it’s customers, so please pay The Sun visit, relax & most importantly, enjoy.
